Описание к видео Stars and Strife: The Rise and Fall of the NASL

Brief interviews and remembrances of the North American Soccer League

This was one of the extras included in the "History Of Football—The Beautiful Game" DVD collection from 2002

The speakers (in order of first appearance, as identified in subtitles):

George Best (Manchester United player)
Pele (Santos player)
Bill Foulkes (Manchester United player)
Clive Toye (Cosmos president)
Henry Kissinger (US statesman)

Pele’s remarks:

“I had stopped playing here in Brazil, after a career of 20 years, so I thought that by playing in Europe, which paid better than the United States, I would play exactly the same way, and if that was the case, I was better off staying in Brazil. Furthermore, I would have the chance to see something new because football was just starting in the United States, and it was more like college football. I took all that in consideration and decided to go to Cosmos.”
