This was not a scene from one city or one country — these protests erupted simultaneously across multiple European nations.

For the first time in recent history, European farmers came out in massive numbers, turning roads into protest zones and potatoes into a powerful symbol of anger. Crops were deliberately dumped on streets to send a clear message: farming has become unprofitable.

Production costs have skyrocketed. Fertilizers, diesel, electricity, and seeds are now more expensive than ever. But crop prices remain stagnant — or in many cases, even lower than before. Supermarkets dictate prices, middlemen make profits, and farmers suffer losses.

At the same time, the European Union introduced strict environmental regulations under the European Green Deal. Farmers were asked to reduce chemical fertilizers, limit pesticides, and leave parts of their land unused. While these rules were enforced, farmers’ incomes did not increase.

Cheap agricultural imports further flooded European markets, making local crops uncompetitive. When negotiations failed, protests escalated. Farmers blocked highways, dumped manure near government buildings, and turned crops into symbols of resistance.

These protests were seen across France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain. Different methods — same problem.

And this crisis is not limited to Europe. Canada, Australia, and the United States face similar pressure under the same global agricultural model.

If farmers cannot survive, food security, economic stability, and political balance will all be at risk.

The same silent crisis is unfolding in Pakistan. Potato crops have collapsed. Sugarcane farmers faced losses. Wheat growers were hit badly. Multiple crops lost value in a single year — yet farmers remain silent.

Change does not come from silence. Systems do not fix themselves — they must be challenged.
