The meaning of the piece from the composer: "The Gift" refers to a version of the Creation story where in the beginning, everything was one, connected, but also divided into something like male and female halves. This was much more loving than it sounds, and the halves decided to create the universe as a gift to each other. This music tries to convey the gratitude and joy of receiving that Gift, and giving it!
