How are you everyone I do hope you’re all having a wonderfull and amazing day. For today’s video we will visit the historical church in Binondo and the Flagship store of Eng Bee Tin Chinese Deli. Binondo Church, also known as the Minor Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz and formerly known as Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish is located in the District of Binondo, Manila fronting Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, in the Philippines.
The church strictly implements the IATF protocols so if you are planning to visit and pray make sure to follow this simple steps . First, you must disinfect then temperature taking, and if you’re going inside make sure to sign up or log in on the tracers logbook. This church was founded by Dominican priests in 1956 to serve their Chinese converts to Christianity. The original design of this church came from the talented Spanish architect, Domingo de la Cruz González. The original building was destroyed in 1762 by British bombardment. A new granite church was completed on the same site in 1852 however it was greatly damaged during the Second World War, with only the western façade and the octagonal belfry surviving. The architectural style is Spanish or European Baroque and it is notable for its octagonal five-tier Chinese-style bell tower which reflects the culture and art of the surround Chinatown. The church was named after the sacristan, San Lorenzo Ruiz (c. 1600 - 1637), who was born of a Chinese father and a Filipino mother, trained in this church and afterwards went as a missionary to Japan and was executed there for refusing to renounce his religion.
Eng Bee Tin’s flagship store is located at Ongpin St., Binondo, you can get a whole look at their wide range of products that is not only known here in the Philippines but in other countries as well. The iconic purple signage of Eng Bee Tin can only be associated with one thing: good quality Chinese treats. They have different kinds of hopia but for me ube and mongo were still the best hopia at this store. The taste of Ube is sweet enough to satisfy your sweet cravings, the soft and creamy texture is so addicting. Beside from hopia they also have frozen products, breads, cakes tikoy, dried mangoes, gourmet tuyo , shanghai rolls , pastillas, fortune cookies and drinks. They also have this pineapple cake, which I had seen in Taiwan . this pineapple cake is a must buy dessert. At the second level of the building they do have the souvenir shops where you can buy items for good luck charms. They also have key chains, and ref magnet for giveaways or remembrance. On this part of the building there is also a restaurant that you could dine in whenever you are hungry and they have this big statue of Buddha.
