PM Modi inaugurates Namo Bharat — India's first Regional Rapid Transit System

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday inaugurated the Namo Bharat — India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System — that is seen as a significant enhancement for the country’s transportation infrastructure. A 17-kilometre long priority section of the 82 kilometre-long Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor was made operational on Friday. Passenger operations will start Saturday from 6 PM. The Namo Bharat trains will operate at a speed of 160 kmph, though the system is designed for 180 kmph speed.
