How to Install DIY HVAC Plenums (and Save $$$)

In this video, produced by Steve Nagy and Chris Cherry, viewers will learn how to construct supply and return plenums using a plenum kit. Opting for a kit simplifies the process compared to purchasing sheet duct board and assembling it, which often requires specialized tools and experience. These kits include all necessary components for assembly, and we recommend using 1.5” plenums for enhanced efficiency. An increasing number of companies offer custom options, requiring only the dimensions of the air handler.

It is important to understand the distinction between supply and return plenums, as they may vary in size. The supply plenum connects to the top of the air handler, allowing heated or cooled air to exit the unit, while the return plenum is always attached to the suction side of the cabinet.
