Cal Kestis’ new enemy in Jedi survivor is going to be absolutely unkillable. At around 44 seconds into the Jedi: Survivor trailer, a large armoured alien threatens Kal, telling his henchmen to remind the Jedi why his kind are supposed to be dead. Now this character has recently been confirmed to be a Gen’daii, a powerful species made famous by Durge from the original 2D Clone Wars series. What made them so terrifying was that they were essentially made of tentacles, meaning they could heal from any wound almost instantly. Even after getting exploded from the inside by Obi-Wan, Durge was able to recover after just a few months. But this Gendai is not durge. This Gendai is known as Rayvis. According to the lead writer of the game, Danny Homan the inclusion of a gen’dai wasn’t just some after thought. The guys over at Respawn genuinely believe that the Gen’dai will make an incredibly interesting inclusion. You’ve really gotta respect these guys for valuing the legends lore. Homan argued Gen’dai like Rayvis could have potentially seen the rise and fall of the Jedi due to their long lives. Whatsmore, they have a deep respect for the Jedi as they too are a warrior people who have nearly been wiped out. Therefore, in Homan’s view, Reyvis is going to give us the perspective of an ancient and mysterious chivalrous knight who doesn’t necessarily perceive himself as the bad guy, which in my opinion will be awesome. I’m not going lie, I am hyped to see the Gen’dai see a bigger role in canon.
