Interactions are essential for fostering collaboration. An open atmosphere and a willingness to share ideas, combined with a mutual respect between colleagues, leave a lasting impression.

In November 2025, in the heart of Amsterdam's Jewish community, the Claims Conference hosted its first joint grantee event for the Research, Education and Documentation, and Social Welfare departments. The multi-day workshop brought together almost 200 people committed to Holocaust survivors: meeting their basic needs through social welfare and ensuring the stories and lessons of the Holocaust are carried forward to future generations.

Over the course of our workshops, an impressive range of topics was explored, including:

• The dynamics of contemporary Jewish life in Europe
• An overview and exploration of the exhibit at the National Holocaust Museum
• Evaluating educational programs and working with archives
• Participant-centered learning
• Teaching from local histories
• Holocaust education and technology
• Keeping dialogues going in demanding environments
• Finding ways to confront the rise in antisemitism in survivors’ environments
• Strategies from grantees for sustaining home-based care for Holocaust survivors

The joint conference gave Claims Conference grantee organizations opportunities to form new connections, develop fresh ideas, and strengthen networks.

The shared responsibility of Holocaust education and remembrance and in ensuring survivors live their lives in dignity, is profound, and we look forward to future events to learn, collaborate, and grow together to enable us to better continue our sacred work.
