Wilensky's Famous Fried Bologna & Salami Sandwiches in Montreal with Mariah Milano

I saw Anthony Bourdain feature this restaurant on his show and thought it was brilliant that something so simple could be so iconic. I knew when I came to Montreal I not only had to try it out but had to get some video there as well. So I emailed and Sharon Wilensky emailed me right back and couldn't have been nicer. She welcomed me to come and film some stuff and was great on camera too!
The food is so good and as crazy as it sounds with fried bologna and salami on bread with mustard and cheese, it just works so perfectly. They have a huge selection of their own soda fountain drinks from cherry cola to egg creams. This place is heaven!

The simplicity of these sandwiches is what makes them so good, along with the bread. I knew I had to film there when I saw Bourdain on his show then David Chang on Mind of a Chef go there as well. If those guys are going there it had to be something special and it was. I know the usual suspects will say some negative shit about it but until you've had it you won't get it. I expected very little and left there feeling dumb that I doubted it and had my mind made up already. Fried all-beef salami and bologna, with either swiss cheese or Kraft, with mustard (no exceptions!) on a house-made bun that is then pressed. They serve it with pickles, sour or half sour. They have their own soda fountain and serve nothing brand name, it's all made in house. I had a cherry soda and then she made me a chocolate egg cream that was yummy
