[BACKTO] Green Craft Academy - Eco-Designing Masterclass with Cohort 2

Cohort 2 is embarking on a new journey of Eco-Designing Masterclasses that focus on adapting to the climate crisis with green skills. 🌍💚

Workshop 1 focused on the Introduction to Climate Change and Green Economy, emphasizing the importance of women and girls being at the center of this ecosystem. 🌿👩‍🔧 Additionally, the session included inspiring success stories from eco-designers and climate activists in Tanzania. 🌱✨

In Tanzania, approximately 5,500 girls drop out of school annually, contributing to increased poverty. A World Bank study highlights that limited educational opportunities for girls and barriers to completing 12 years of education result in a loss of $15-30 trillion in lifetime productivity and earnings globally.

The Green Craft Academy, a Woman@Dior 2023 Winning Project, in partnership with Dior and UNESCO, aims to empower Tanzanian girls who have dropped out of school. It teaches them vocational skills to create local products using eco-friendly practices, such as recycling plastics into art, bricks, and bags; upcycling clothes; sustainable agriculture; and making renewable cooking stoves and net-zero carbon charcoal. This initiative supports girls from economically challenged backgrounds, helping them avoid becoming domestic workers or forced into marriage by providing practical skills and entrepreneurship opportunities for a brighter future.
