Why do I share this??
Because I used to be so stuck, and if you are too, I want you to know that there’s hope (even if you don’t feel like there is), because if a guy like me can fix it… anyone can
What’s stuck?
Well, I all I can really do is tell you what it was for me
Life was hand to mouth… basically just survival mode all the time
I was unhappy with my health/body
Unhappy with relationship(s), always stress with my wife and kids and social circles weren’t any fun, just more stress
Totally unhappy/unfulfilled with work
Just no joy
Except for the little shots of dopamine I got from my “mouthgasm” style of eating, stuffing myself or eating completely processed crap like twix and redbull to get a quick high
Excess drinking
Excess sleeping and or binge watching something on tv or the internet
Knowing that there was nothing in my life that gave it even a remote chance of getting better
And everything in my life geared toward it just getting worse and worse
That’s what my stuck was (and that was just a few short years ago)
And I thought, how did I get here??
Realization #1
anything I really loved to do, I was no longer doing… at all
I used to be passionate about fitness, but I was no longer doing anything related to fitness. In fact, almost everything I was doing was ANTI fitness
And now, to start that again felt like it would be the journey of a thousand miles (on my knees thru broken glass)
Which led me to
Realization #2
Any of the real joy and passion I’ve ever experienced in my life came in a “delayed” manner
It was never instant (like everything else I was doing at the time ala overeating, drinking and watching stupid shit on tv or the internet)
Everything that ever mattered to me in my life, was always something I had to work toward… I had to earn it
EVERYTHING
That’s when the switch flipped for me and I decided to
Start doing something I really loved again (not what others loved for me to do, but rather, what I REALLY WANTED TO DO), which was fitness for me and
Figure out how to stick to it, no matter what (because that was the only thing that really brought me true happiness)
And what I found is that in order to do that, it all comes down to one thing.
Mindset (a word that’s often used and not very often understood)
Mindset was everything that helped me to stick to whatever I was doing to achieve a result in the future that I really wanted
It’s not about forcing yourself, but rather, shifting the way you look at something that makes the difference as to whether you do it, and whether you stick to doing it
Once you understand how to shift it, you can basically get yourself to do anything (but you really should stick to doing the things you are passionate about, DUH… right?)
And that’s why I share these mindset hacks with you. Because if I can break free for being stuck, so can you
It’s really not hard, it’s just a different way of using the tools you already have
