A motorist apparently ran off the road on Broad Street in Newark NJ around 9:00 AM on Monday January 9. I happened to be leaving the Whole Foods literally one block over on New St. and Broad St. and as I was leaving, I happened to pass right next to the scene while it was still technically active, but they were already getting things under control.

After I initially stopped filming thinking there was not much going on, many more police and another ambulance showed up and it was only then I noticed the Toyota Prius trying to build it's own drive-thru. The officer in the street then made me turn back toward where I came from, so I figured I would park and document what happened. By the time I parked and made it back over there, they had taped it up and the crime scene unit was already finished taking photos.

When I pulled up to the Whole Foods, I distinctly remember the segway officer standing there with the two security guards who work at the adjacent Prudential building. I recognized the segway cop from a previous interaction, so I was even more shocked to see that his segway was actually hit and knocked on its side!! You can see it in the video on its side with the lights still going.

Truthfully, I am not sure if this was intentional or not, what the extent of the injuries were. I just documented it as I was leaving the area.
