Edward Norton and Michael Walker: Responsible Waste Management

Описание к видео Edward Norton and Michael Walker: Responsible Waste Management

Actor, environmentalist and Baswood Chairman Edward Norton, and Michael Walker, CEO of Baswood, talk about why waste management is such a critical issue for the sustainability agenda.

Edward Norton explains his portfolio career - actor, activist, philanthropist, social entrepreneur - and gives some startling statistics on the impacts of poor waste management on public health. For instance: more people in the world have access to a cell phone than a toilet; 1.7 million people die every year from diarrheal diseases; 90% of these deaths are children under five years of age; improving sanitation facilities would reduce diarrhea-related deaths in children by a third.

Michael Walker introduces Baswood's waste management system which reduces water usage for waste treatment by up to 85%.

Edward Norton and Michael Walker were talking at the SLOW LIFE Symposium, an annual event to address increased sustainability and environmental protection in the travel and tourism industry.
