Move Over Aperol... this amaro spritz recipe is a delightful crowdpleaser during spritz season. And while 'Spritz Season' has been in full swing for a while now, this is one quick, easy, and vibrant cocktail that is a summertime staple in our house. The Strawberry Luck Duck is simply a rum & amaro-based spritz served in a tall collins glass over ice. We like to use strawberries and basil to add vibrant fruit flavors to balance the bitterness of the amaro.

While you can use any rum you'd like we love supporting our local distilleries here in San Diego and usually use Old Harbor White Rum from their adventure series.

Ingredients
2 -3 Strawberries
2 Basil Leaves
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
1/4 oz Amaro Hibiscus
1 1/2 oz Old Harbor Rum - This can be made as a mocktail by swapping out the rum for water or more seltzer
Seltzer or Prosecco to top - we like to use lime or lemon flavored sparkling water if we are going for a lower abv drink.

Muddle the ingredients, give them a good shake and then strain over ice. Top with bubbles!

This strawberry basil cocktail recipe is modern reinterpretation of the classic aperal spritz. This is very similar to an aperol spritz recipe that is more focused on the strawberry basil flavors and the use of a different amaro. Its like a cross breed from a strawberry basil mojito and an aperol spritz. I once worked at Raised By Wolves in San Diego (hence the lapel pin) and we would infuse aperol with strawberries which is what gave me inspiration for creating my version using rum and the amaro I product to make a series of strawberry basil cocktail recipes.
