Around the ending of When Calls the Heart season 8, Elizabeth put the much-debated love triangle behind her and realized that Lucas is the one who calls her heart. This decision was two years in the making and understandably, a lot of Hearties were anticipating a different outcome, saying that Nathan was the obvious — and well, better — choice.

Some even started saying that they're giving up on the show altogether. And while Erin Krakow has steered clear of the controversy, she's now making a point to reassure fans that season 9 will be worth the watch. In a recent interview with TVLine, the Hallmark Channel star revealed some exciting details about her character's budding romance. "We’ve seen the fire burn between these two for years, and this season … is no exception! Lucas and Elizabeth are finally getting to explore and enjoy their relationship," she told the outlet.
In the season 8 finale, titled "The Kiss," Elizabeth and Lucas professed their love to one another.
But, of course, their relationship isn't just about them. Over the years, we've caught glimpses of Lucas interacting with Elizabeth's son, Little Jack. According to Erin, these two will bond a little more in season 9. "We're also getting to see Lucas in a new light — as a father figure to Little Jack, who absolutely adores him," she continued.
