Porsche unveiled its latest iteration of the Panamera, the third generation, earlier this year, featuring the base and Turbo S E-Hybrid variants. Now, expanding the lineup, Porsche introduces the 4 and 4S E-Hybrids, incorporating the same plug-in hybrid technology seen in the powerful Turbo S model.

Powertrain Enhancements
These new models utilize the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 engine from the previous S model, paired with an upgraded electric motor and a 21.8-kWh battery, similar to the one in the Turbo S. Despite the increased energy capacity of the battery, thanks to advancements in cell chemistry, the overall weight remains relatively unchanged. The integration of the electric motor into the transmission and other design improvements enhance performance while reducing weight.

The 4 E-Hybrid boasts a 300-hp version of the 2.9-liter engine coupled with the electric motor, delivering a combined output of 463 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 4S E-Hybrid features a higher output V-6 engine producing 348 horsepower and, when combined with the electric motor, a total of 536 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Driving Experience
Both models offer exhilarating performance, with the electric motor providing instant torque for quick acceleration. In E-Hybrid mode, driving solely on electric power is possible for normal commuting, with the option to engage the V-6 for additional power when needed. Despite slight downgrades in output compared to previous models, Porsche claims these new E-Hybrids are quicker and faster, providing a thrilling driving experience.

Equipped with Porsche Active Ride, an advanced suspension system, both the 4 and 4S E-Hybrids offer exceptional ride quality and handling. This system, capable of actively adjusting each wheel's height, provides superior composure on various road conditions, minimizing body movements and ensuring a smooth ride.

Interior and Features
Inside, the third-generation Panameras feature a fully electronic dashboard with customizable options, while retaining hard buttons for essential functions. The interior offers decent space, though not as roomy as some competing luxury sedans.
