Pakistan is in contact with the United States regarding its energy requirements, following a warning of potential sanctions from the State Department regarding dealings with Iran. Despite the US warning, Pakistan emphasizes cooperation with Iran for trade on a preferential basis to fulfill its crucial energy needs. During Iranian President Raisi's recent visit to Pakistan, discussions were held on energy cooperation, including the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project and electricity trade, reflected in a joint statement issued afterward. Also, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. On The other Hand US Department of State denied any rifts between Islamabad and Washington after the imposition of sanctions on four commercial entities allegedly linked to Pakistan's ballistic missile program.
