CHENNAI: An hour after signing a poll deal with AIADMK on Tuesday, Union minister Piyush Goyal called on DMDK chief Vijayakanth at his residence in Saligramam in Chennai and enquired about his ‘old friend’s’ health. Sources said the alliance with the DMDK could not be formally sealed as there was a disagreement over the number of seats to be allocated to the party. While talks remained inconclusive, the AIADMK and BJP are firm about bringing Vijayakanth on board. Party sources said the DMDK leadership demanded seats on a par with PMK, which walked away with seven seats and one Rajya Sabha seat. Accompanied by party colleagues Pon Radhakrishnan and BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan and other senior leaders, Goyal spoke to Vijayakanth's wife Premalatha as well. Leaders said BJP national president Amit Shah, who was to arrive in Chennai on Tuesday, cancelled his visit due to delay in sealing a pact with the DMDK.
