At the September 5th Phillies vs. Marlins game, a home run ball flew into the stands. Drew Feltwell, the dad in the viral clip, says he saw the ball fall between two armrests, and when he picked it up, he felt other hands reaching for it at the same time.

A few moments later, the woman now known as “Phillies Karen” stormed over and started yelling in his ear — claiming the ball was hers. Drew says she was so loud and aggressive that he literally jumped out of his skin. Hundreds of people were staring, and she wouldn’t back off.

In that moment, Drew had to make a choice. He says he could either escalate the situation and regret it, or use it as a chance to show his son Lincoln how to de-escalate. That’s when he decided to hand over the ball.

When asked if the ball was ever truly hers, Drew explained that she was sitting in the row behind him, and her hands only touched the ball a split-second after his. In his words: “She was too slow.”
