Want to make the most out of meetings? Need to keep track of essential project parameters, or monitor project health across a portfolio?
If there's one thing we recommend for managing multiple projects, it's the CRAID log.
In this video, we'll show you how to leverage Asana's user-friendly interface and diverse set of features to create a CRAID log for your organization or team.
What is CRAID? A CRAID log is our take on the classic RAID system in project management, and it's become an essential part of our approach for streamlined project workflows.
Building a CRAID (Concerns, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) log in Asana can help you effectively manage all aspects of a project or event. Here's how you can build a CRAID log in Asana:
Create a New Project: Start by creating a new project in Asana dedicated to your CRAID log. Click on the "+" icon in the sidebar and select "Project."
Name Your Project: Give your project a descriptive name that indicates it's a CRAID log. For example, "[Project Name] CRAID Log."
Set Up Sections: Within your project, create sections to organize your CRAID log. You'll want sections for each element of CRAID: Concerns, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies. To create a section, click on the "+" icon below the project name and choose "Section."
Add Tasks for Each Section:
Concerns: Create tasks for any concerns related to the project or event. These could include logistical challenges, resource constraints, or stakeholder issues. To add a task, click on the "+" icon below the appropriate section and enter the task name.
Risks: Create tasks to document potential risks associated with the project or event. Include details such as the nature of the risk, its likelihood, impact, and mitigation strategies.
Assumptions: Document any assumptions that have been made about the project or event. This could include assumptions about timelines, resource availability, or stakeholder engagement.
Issues: Track any issues that arise during the planning or execution of the project or event. Assign tasks to team members responsible for resolving these issues.
Dependencies: Identify any dependencies that could impact the success of the project or event. This might include dependencies on external vendors, stakeholders, or other projects.
Assign Tasks and Due Dates: Assign tasks to team members responsible for managing each aspect of the CRAID log. Set due dates to ensure that concerns, risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies are addressed in a timely manner.
Use Tags or Custom Fields for Prioritization: Consider using tags or custom fields to prioritize items within each section of the CRAID log. For example, you could use tags to indicate the severity of risks or the urgency of issues.
Regularly Review and Update: Schedule regular meetings or check-ins to review the CRAID log with your team. Use these meetings to discuss any new concerns, risks, assumptions, issues, or dependencies that have arisen and update the log accordingly.
Track Progress: Use Asana's task progress tracking features to monitor the status of items in the CRAID log. Update tasks as they are addressed or resolved and track any follow-up actions that need to be taken.
Communicate Changes: Keep stakeholders informed of any changes to the CRAID log and how they may impact the project or event. Use Asana's commenting and notification features to facilitate communication and collaboration.
