What´s the most popular kolaches´filling? Some people love plum jam, walnuts paste or a cream cheese and raisins. But I think the nr. 1 goes for poppy seeds!

In this video I will show you how to make poppy seed filling for classic Czech "koláče" (kolaches) pastries. It´s very easy and delicious!
It´s easier to buy already ground poppy seeds but you can also grind it in a coffee grinder or a spice mill. In a saucepan heat milk and when it starts to boil, turn off the heat. Add poppy seeds and stir it well. Keep on stirring until the paste gets thicken. Add semolina, cinnamon and rum (if you like). It´s better to let the paste cool before handling.

200 g ground poppy seeds
400 ml milk
70 g granulated sugar (white or brown sugar)
1 tablespoon semolina flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 shot rum
