Hey everybody, Ryan here at eTrailer. Today on our 2020 Chrysler Voyager, we're gonna be showing you how to install the eTrailer.com trailer hitch receiver. But before we do that, why don't we check it out and make sure that it's gonna work for you. The Chrysler Voyager is a really capable vehicle and a lot of people use 'em to do a ton of different things, whether it's work related or for the family, whatever the case may be. And so having a hitch back here is really gonna be able to open up your opportunities on what you can do with your Voyager, whether you're looking to use maybe a cargo carrier back here to haul some extra stuff around whenever you're on a trip, maybe a bike rack whenever you're trying to go hit the trails or even be able to put a ball mount in here and tow your trailer around. Whatever you're trying to do, you're gonna want a hitch that's gonna get the job done right and this one is gonna do just that.

With this being a class three hitch and it's gonna give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. Very common size. Lot of different things are gonna work with it. At the end, there will be a reinforced collar for a little bit of extra support and it is going to use that standard 5/8 pin and clip. Keep in mind though, pin and clip doesn't come with the hitch.

If you need one, you can always grab it here at eTrailer. We are gonna have plate style safety chain openings and they should give us enough space to use just about any size hook that we might have. As far as the hit's weight capacity go, it's gonna have a 400 pound maximum gross tongue weight rating. That's gonna be the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch, so relatively high number. You'll be able to use a lot of different bike racks and cargo carriers.

As far as the hitch's maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, that's gonna be 4,000 pounds and that's gonna be the amount of weight that is pulling on the hitch, so weight of your trailer plus anything that you might have on it. That can be used with a weight distribution system, which is a separate component. And what happens is whenever you use that, what it's gonna do is keep your Voyager and your trailer level whenever you towing it down the road. So if you have a bigger camper, something along those lines, might be worth looking into. If you're using the weight distribution, the capacities do increase some: maximum gross tongue weight rating goes up to 500 pounds and maximum gross trailer weight rating goes up to 5,000 pounds.

With all that in mind though, I do always like to suggest it's never a bad idea just to grab your Chrysler's owner's manual. That way you can make sure your Voyager can pull that much weight safely. Let's go ahead now and just take a couple of measurements and these will help us figure out what type of hitch mount accessories we can get. We go from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening. That's gonna be about 12 1/2 inches. So if you plan on pulling a trailer around, chances are pretty good you're gonna need to get a ball mount that has a rise in it. I would say on average you'd probably want one, maybe about four inches, something like that. We go from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of our rear bumper, it's gonna be about five inches and you can use that measurement to help figure out that if any folding type accessories you might have can be stored in that upright position without hitting the back of your van. Other than that though, at the end of the day, if you're looking for a trailer hitch, this is one that's gonna look pretty decent and allow you to get done all the things you're looking to do. As far as the installation is concerned, say it's about medium. I've done the hitches that are harder, some that are easier. There's a couple times where things can get a little tight and everything else, but as long as you stay focused it's definitely doable. But with that said, if you'd like to see how it gets installed, feel free to hang around. We'll go ahead and put that on together now. To begin our installation, we're gonna be underneath the back of our Voyager. And first thing we need to do is remove this underbody panel. There's a bunch of fasteners holding it on. The first ones we're gonna start with will be the ones that have an eight millimeter head. So I believe it's just several screws running along the edge here. Take these out. (driver whirs) And then there's going to be, I believe a few more along this inside edge here that we need to take out as well. So if you look in the wheel well here along this edge, w
