This is an Ashoka Crossover Series lecture by Professor Nayanjot Lahiri titled "Struggling with History, Living with Ashoka: My Encounter with Biography". A Professor of Archaeology at the Department of History, University of Delhi, she presently also serves on the Council of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and is a recipient of the Infosys Prize for Humanities - Archaeology (2013).

The lecture was chaired by Professor Upinder Singh, historian and Head of the Department of History, University of Delhi.
