An expression of just how quickly and unexpectedly and insanely love can knock us off our feet. You might think that you’ve grown out of this kind of explosive, engrossing, blind love and then BAM somebody comes along and just changes everything in an instant. Helpless to escape it, all that you can do is sit back and marvel at your own obsession and capacity for magnetic attraction to another person who you have just met.

Director Truman Hanks and I concocted the storyline for the video, which we think of as a Horror Romantic Comedy. We wanted it to start with some of the sweetness of a romantic comedy, the “meet cute” and the “first date” but then slowly devolve over the course of the song as the obsession spirals out of control, until by the end of the video we’ve arrived at (spoiler alert!) full “Psycho” shower stalker mode. The video explores a darker side of "obsession" than the song on its own, but with a Horror-esque absurdity and a Romantic Comedy’s wink and a smile. Right on time for Valentine’s Day!
