Sanjeev Bikhchandani is the founder of InfoEdge and has been one of the boldest investors in the Indian Startup Ecosystem.

Sanjeev first invested in Zomato back in 2010 and has since put in around 17.5 Million dollars. That money is now worth 3.7 Billion dollars, a staggering 217x return on investment.

Sanjeev’s other successful bet was in PolicyBazaar, a company he has backed since 2007. His investment in the company of 69 Million dollars, is now worth 1.02 Billion dollars.

But the question is, how did he achieve this?

In one word, the answer is ‘patience’. See, a typical VC firm has a fund cycle of 10 years, which means they have to exit before that.

But the Indian market takes longer periods to give big returns, almost 15 years in these two cases.

And because of this reason, other VC firms like Sequoia and Softbank exited Zomato soon after its IPO and couldn’t make big returns.
