This Catholic video by speaker Ken Yasinski offers a powerful and simple explanation of the Catholic sexuality. What is sex for? Does it have a purpose? Did God have something in mind when he created human persons male and female?

Are you teaching TOB in school and searching for good resources that target theology of the body for teens? We made this with you in mind. This video is meant to be theology of the body for beginners. It’s a basic starting point on why God gave us bodies.

What is sex for?
Number one - for bonding. There is a unitive aspect in the male and female body. The two become one flesh. And this more than just a physical causal union. Sexual intimacy is a total free gift of self to the other person, that communicates I am all yours and you are all mine.

Number two - for babies - this is a life long consequence of sexuality intimacy. This is what sexual intimacy is ordered too. Nobody has ever got pregnant and thought, “I wonder how that happened.” Sex is order towards not a temporary consequence, but a permanent one, a baby.

If follows then that if babies are a permanent life long consequence of sexual intimacy, then sexuality intimacy is best experience is a permeant life long commitment relationship, called marriage.

But what happens when you take sex outside of the purpose for which it was designed (babies and bonds in the context of marriage), what you end up with is pain and brokenness.

How?
You end up with broken marriages through infidelity (sexual intimacy is meant for spouses)

As a result You end up with the heartache, betrayal of trust, destroyed relationships
You end up with fatherless children (causal sex offers no comment beyond that moment)
You end up with unwanted children (couples wanting the pleasure of sex without the responsibility of raising a child, which of course leads to contraception which is a contradiction to the nature of sexual intimacy, contraception has failure rate)
This leads to abortion (contraception failed to prevent a life, this lead to destroying life)
You get sexual confusion (if sex is not for babies and bonding, then there is no reason it can’t be with anything, or anyone)
Sexual transmitted infection (which would not exist if people were faithful to the purpose of sex)
Proliferation of porn (which sees a parts a parts and not as person)
People are reduces person to an object of lust through a one-night stand
