The landslide in Tuensang triggered by prolonged and intense rainfall since April 16, has caused significant damage affecting over 378 residential structures. At least 25 houses were completely destroyed, 47 severely damaged, and 306 partially damaged.
Approximately 768 individuals have been displaced from the Phinjang sector of St John A Ward and NST Ward of Tuensang Town, with temporary shelter established at Tuensang Village C/Khel.
In response to the crisis, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Tuensang held a meeting with the ward and sector chairpersons of the affected colonies on July 25.
A physical verification was conducted on July 27 leading to the decision to establish a relief camp at Tuensang village C Khel youth hall and the old church building.
The camp currently shelters 34 families, totaling 164 individuals providing food, water, sanitation, medical care and education support for children.
