The TRUTH about EbaumsWorld

Ebaumsworld went from one of the most beloved media sites on the internet to one of the most hated. In the early 2000s, eBaumsworld.com was THE place online to watch funny videos, flash animations, and more. Founded by Eric Bauman and his father Neil Bauman, eBaumsWorld faced controversy from every angle. Corporations like Viacom and Corona were some of the first to threaten eBaumsWorld with legal action over copyright infringement, but that was nothing compared to the battles eBaumsWorld faced against other online communities like AlbinoBlacksheep, SomethingAwful, and YTMND.

Tensions between eBaumsWorld and YTMND came to a head in 2006 when eBaumsWorld posted a gif called “Lindsay Lohan never changes facial expressions” with the eBaumsWorld watermark added on. The gif had originally come from YTMND.com (owned by Max Goldberg), and members of the YTMND forums were NOT happy about this. A battle ensued in which users of both websites engaged in spamming and ddosing, but eBaumsWorld eventually gave in to the pressure.

Drama continued when eBaumsWorld uploaded a popular flash animation titled Animator vs Animation. Alan Becker had shared his Animator vs Animation cartoon through Albinoblacksheep.com, but he never gave permission to Eric Bauman to host the animation on eBaumsWorld... or did he?

Soon after all this, eBaumsWorld was sold to a company called ZVUE for a very large sum. I’d say Eric and Neil Bauman sold at the perfect time, because a little website called Youtube was starting to get popular around that time and eBaumsWorld never really recovered.
