A few days before menstruating, I become more sensitive to the world around me. Sounds, smells, people, animals, and the weather; can easily upset my feelings.

The world I have been so used to for the past 21 days starts to look different.

Being alone doesn't feel like I'm missing anything from life; solitude is like being curled up in a cozy blanket and watching a new movie.

My body doesn't want to show up to work out in the same way I've been training all month. Instead, it craves creativity and focuses on the areas where I've been storing tension.

Food cravings become normal, and if I want more chocolate, so be it, lol!

I didn't understand these signals from my body when I was younger; instead, I just thought something was off with me. It didn't make sense why I didn't want to go to school or say a word to anyone all day. It wasn't how I wanted to act or feel, but I couldn't help it.

Even into my earlier 20s, as I started learning about my menstrual cycle, I'd notice, just out of the blue, I'd start crying over something like the way my dog looked sleeping on the couch, lol.

I couldn't recognize until years of studying my cycle that it was all part of it.

Every month I'd go through death (period) followed by life (ovulation). My constant ebb & flow was, in fact, similar to the cycles of the moon, and every 31 days, it would start again!

I loved that, and understanding my cycle in that way led me down a path of learning directly from nature because I felt connected to it through my body.

When I feel my best, I'm in the waxing phase of my moon, and when I need more time for rest, I'm in the waning. It was empowering to comprehend the signals my body was sending finally.
