Steven Mead - Italian Masterclass No.5

Описание к видео Steven Mead - Italian Masterclass No.5

In the final video masterclass in this series of five, Steven Mead addresses the subject of melodic playing. So often these days students are practising and studying melodic music but seem not to have experiences to draw on to make this music really live. After a short explanation we hear excerpts from the Serenade by Toselli, the second movement of the Euphonium Concerto by Horovitz, the main theme from Amilcare Ponchielli's Concerto per Flicorno Basso and the ending of Drigo's Serenade. As this latter work fades away we cut to the main church in Smarano, the centre of activities for the Brass Masterclasses held this week, to hear Ave Maria (Bach/Gounod) played by Steve accompanied by local organist Mauro Brusaferri. This was part of the final concert in which all students participated. At the end of August 2013, Steve will be a recording a full CD with organ in Laon Cathedral, France with the celebrated Polish organist Lidia Książkiewicz.
It's hoped these 5 masterclass videos will be useful for brass students everywhere.
There will be more to come during the summer of 2013 with next videos being shot on location in China, Macau,Trakai (Lithuania), Jeju Island (South Korea) and Voru (Estonia).
p.s. apologies for the outdoor sound quality in places...all recorded on my iPhone5 :)
