Markhor goat | Magnificent Wild Goat With Corkscrew Horns | The Snake -Eater Goat | Himalayan Goat

Belonging to the family of large goats, the markhor goat is the national animal of Pakistan.

Markhor goats have massive spiral horns that resemble a perfect corkscrew; thus they are also called Corkscrew Horned or Screw Horn Goat.
It looks as if they are trying to catch radio signals from space. Watching a Markhor goat for the first time, you may wonder if the awe-inspiring fairytale goat has come to life.
They can grow as long as six feet from head to tail, weighing up to two forty pounds. What is even more shocking is that the horns of Markhors can grow as long as five-point two feet long. But that is only true for males, who viciously fight with other male Markhors during the mating season. As far as the female Markhors are concerned, their horn only grows up to ten inches long.
These might goats live in the Himalayan Mountain range under the shadow of the mighty Mount Everest.
Besides their mighty size, Markhors are extremely skilled climbers and have no trouble moving up and down in hilly terrain. To forage for food and evade predators, these goats often perch up on seemingly dangerous cliffs.
In folklore, markhors are touted as “Snake-Killers.” Markhor actually means “Snake-eater” in Persian. It is believed that they can easily kill snakes with their horns. Besides their horns, they can also kill snakes by trampling them, as Markhors have quite powerful hooves.
Markhor goats are poached for their magnificent horns and currently are listed as critically endangered species. Like and share this video if you would like to save these fairytale goats to come out of extinction.
