It has long been believed that a single white ZX Spectrum was produced in the early 1980s as a special gift for Sir Clive Sinclair, created to mark the milestone of one million Spectrum units sold. While that original machine was never commercially released, the idea of a white Spectrum has lived on for decades as a symbol of a road not taken - a design legend passed down through the community. The Spectrum White Edition brings that story into the present, transforming a long-rumoured artefact into a modern, playable reality.

Sitting alongside the previously announced Collector’s Edition, the White Edition offers an alternative expression of The Spectrum experience, focused on play, nostalgia and authenticity. It delivers the same core hardware and software experience as the original release, including its carefully curated selection of pre-installed games. Rather than revising the games line-up, the decision was taken to preserve it as a celebration of the Spectrum’s original software heritage.
