Sketches of the Kia SP-based SUV have been revealed. The compact SUV, codenamed ‘Kia SP2i’ is designed and developed with India in mind. Kia’s SP2 SUV will be made-in-India at the manufacturer’s Anantpur facility. Interestingly, the sketches show that the production-spec SUV hasn’t deviated from the Kia SP Concept. Kia SP2i India launch is expected by August 2018, and will rival the Creta, Captur, Kicks, S-Cross and the upcoming HR-V.

The new SUV will be the first of five Kia cars in India. The South Korean manufacturer is aiming to launch five new models by 2021, including a compact SUV and possibly a premium hatchback as well. Kia’s new SUV is expected to be powered by a set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines with manual, as well as automatic transmissions.
