Enrolling wireless keypads on a Qolsys IQ Pro system is a fairly simple process regardless of the wireless keypad you choose. In Today's video, Hayden walks you through the procedure of enrolling both the Qolsys IQ Remote PG and the DSC HS2LCDWF9 keypads. Both connect to the panel using a PowerG wireless signal as the primary connection method. The IQ Remote does offer a Wifi connection as well, however, which can be used if you desire. It is recommended that you use the PowerG connection with the IQ Remote if possible for multiple reasons. The main one being that Wifi can drop out at any time, but the PowerG signal will always be active so long as the panel is powered up. The Wifi connection can be a good backup, however, and it allows the IQ remote to update as needed. Both keypads provide similar usage on the Qolsys IQ Pro. Just as with the wired keypads, they are mainly just for arming and disarming your system locally. Programming as we've mentioned will always be handled through the IQ installer app. The IQ Remote does offer some benefits over all of the other keypad options though by allowing you to control local Z-wave devices with an optional screen that appears when you enroll one. There is one additional wireless keypad option not shown in this video and that is the new Qolsys IQKP touchpad. This will be shown in another video soon.
