Between 42nd and 59th streets the NYC DOT has been widening bike lanes AND making the intersections safer for pedestrians and bike riders by making left turns more deliberate with traffic calming devices by hardening the turns. Hopefully this will become a standard on all Avenues in Manhattan and NYC.
