There are scenes of chaos with cars on fire and columns of dark smoke rising up into the air during an outbreak in violence following the death of a top Mexican cartel boss. Vehicles, buildings, and public spaces have been torched, and black smoke is seen rising over urban areas as cartel members allegedly retaliate against the authorities. The unrest has created fear among residents, disrupted daily life, and forced local authorities to impose heightened security measures.

After the security raid, El Mencho's cartel went on the rampage. Cartel members blocked the streets and were seen carrying guns. Videos on social media showed them torching dozens of buses, cars, and commercial trucks. Some reports also said that supermarkets, gas stations, and at least 18 Banco del Bienestar branches were also torched. Reports said at least seven National Guard members were killed. Meanwhile, Mexico's National Guard deployed a convoy of heavily armed police officers to guard the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime in Mexico City.

Mass violence flared in several parts of Mexico after authorities announced the special forces operation to capture Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho."

Recall, Oseguera Cervantes was wounded in an operation to capture him Sunday in Tapalpa, Jalisco, about a two-hour drive southwest of Guadalajara, and he died while he was being flown to Mexico City, the Defense Department said in a statement. The state is the base of the cartel known for trafficking huge quantities of fentanyl and other drugs to the United States. During the operation, troops came under fire and killed four people at the location. Three more people, including Oseguera Cervantes, were wounded and died later, the statement said. Two others were arrested, and armored vehicles, rocket launchers and other arms were seized. Three members of the armed forces were wounded and receiving medical treatment.
