Should You Buy Medal of Honor Above and Beyond // Medal of Honor VR Gameplay & First Impressions

This is a strange one, Medal of Honor Above and Beyond / Medal of Honor VR released today and it should be a huge deal. This long standing, but recently dormant franchise, means a lot to a huge amount of people & I personally have always loved Medal of Honor. So the prospect of experiencing Medal of Honor Above and Beyond gameplay in VR was incredibly exciting... but then I saw the required specs... and then I saw the price... and then I saw the reviews. The Medal of Honor Above and Beyond cost is high (£54.99, the most expensive VR game I have purchased to date) and the required specs are also very daunting (RTX 2080, i7 9700k & 16GB RAM) but I bought it anyway and decided to go ahead with my Medal of Honor Above and Beyond first impressions video... let's just say it's a mixed bag!

Immedaitely Medal of Honor Above and Beyond looks wonderful (check out the Medal of Honor VR gameplay in this video alone and I'm sure you'll agree that it's a great looking game). The characters are expressive, the voice acting is fairly solid & the world looks crisp, bright and realistic (with an almost cartoonish over exaggerated edge). The gunplay feels nice, the sound design is great and overall my Medal of Honor Above and Beyond review was looking set to be an extremely positive one. Then after around half an hour of tutorials and exposition I finally reached the first mission and the game crashed. Then it crashed again. And again. And then a further 5 times to the point where I can now no longer launch Medal of Honor Above and Beyond / Medal of Honor VR at all.

Right now my instinct is to say stay away from the game until it has recieved a few post launch patches, the experience I was having with this Medal of Honor VR gameplay was enjoyable but it wasn't worth the price tag (no collision with objects in the world, broken physics, constant loading screens that pull you out of the experience...) but add on top of that the crashes I've encountered and it's hard to recommend it at all at this stage. So if you're asking yourself Medal of Honor Above and Beyond is it worth it? Or thinking should you buy Medal of Honor Adove and Beyond then my answer right now is no... wait for a price drop, wait for a patch & then hopefully the experience will live upto the huge amounts of promise that lay just under the surface.

I'll revisit this game when I can push past the initial issues I've encountered and hopefully form a much more positive Medal of Honor VR review / Medal of Honor Above and Beyond review but right now these are just my Medal of Honor Above and Beyond first impressions and experiences *
