Re-Oiling Boots| REDWING | Weekender Chukka | ASMR

Hello Shiners !
Today is a simple reconditioning of some Red Wing Weekender Chukkas. A practically new Thrift store find. All they needed was a good cleaning and reconditioning. Since these boots are made from an oiled leather I used some mink oil for conditioning. Mink Oil has a tendency to darken leathers significantly BUT it doesn't change the color. It will change the overall shade of the leather due to saturation. Yes the shoes look beautiful in the lighter shade but if you look up these boots that's not even the true color. The true color of these boots is actually similar to the reconditioned pair. Even after the conditioning the leather will return to the lighter shade as it looses oils and moisture. I try and show this at the end of the video by scratching and spreading

the leather to displace the oils to show the lighter shade is in fact, still there. Yes the lighter color is beautiful but don't purposefully leave your shoes poorly conditioned to keep it.
