Shyamal-Saumil is one of Gujarat’s most respected and loved musical groups, known for their soulful contribution to Gujarati Sugam Sangeet. Based in Ahmedabad, the group features brothers Shyamal Munshi and Saumil Munshi, along with Aarti Munshi, who together have carried forward a rich musical legacy since 1980.
With a unique blend of classical, devotional, folk, and contemporary Gujarati music, Shyamal-Saumil has touched the hearts of audiences across generations. Their acclaimed projects include the six-album masterpiece Hastakshar, featuring collaborations with legendary artists like Jagjit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, and Shreya Ghoshal.
Apart from their timeless music, the trio has played a vital role in preserving and promoting Gujarati art and culture through platforms like Swarsetu and Anushthaan, bringing people closer to the language and its soulful expression.
Over the years, Shyamal-Saumil’s work has earned them many honors, including the Gujarat State Gaurav Puraskar and the Girnar Swarshiromani Puraskar, recognizing their contribution to Gujarati music and culture.
