Jason Ringenberg, “The Original Roots Punk Barnstormer” took the Blue Plate stage by (barn) storm and treated the appreciative audience to some vintage Jason and The Scorchers tunes, including this cover of Bob Dylan’s “Absolutely Sweet Marie”. Jason had a dream of “Making a band that could kick American roots music into the modern age!”, and throughout the 1980’s and 90’s Jason and The Scorchers became known as one of the most exciting live bands in music. Their instinctive ability to combine traditional country music with high energy punk rock is still sets the standard. In 2008 they were awarded the Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance, and they have an exhibit the Country Music Hall of Fame. At the end of the video, Jason shares a story about the first time The Scorchers played in Knoxville in 1982.
