HeroQuest - Spell Strategy (HeroQuest in Depth Part 4)

How can the heroes most effectively use their spells in HeroQuest? The game features a number of different spells to aid the characters in their quest, but we have found that they are not all equally useful. Some spells get used in every game. Others are used more rarely. What experience has your gaming group had with these spells?
