Oprah called this book series a masterpiece... so I read it

The four Gilead novels by Marilynne Robinson were chosen in March 2021 as Oprah Book Club picks, the first time in the history of the book club that four books were chosen simultaneously. Heralded as a 'masterpiece' by Oprah, this book series is highly beloved and very highly critically acclaimed, winning various awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Women's Prize for Fiction.

In this video, I read these four novels and look at why they were chosen, what Oprah (and Barack Obama) had to say about them, and whether these books are in fact masterpieces. Is Marilynne Robinson our greatest living author?
