Birding in Belize: Birding at San Ignacio Resort Hotel

Описание к видео Birding in Belize: Birding at San Ignacio Resort Hotel

For our third episode of A Day in a Birder's Life series, we went birding with San Ignacio Resort Hotel, in San Ignacio Town. This luxury resort is known as “the only jungle in town” and its 17-acres of private jungle property make it a prime location for bird watching in Belize.

Sign up for their “Breakfast with the Birds” package to experience their avian visitors who regularly swoop by to say hello and grab a quick bite to eat from the trees surrounding the hotel. From Collared Aracaris to Yellow-Breasted Flycatchers to the infamous Keel-Billed Toucan, you can expect to see dozens of birds from the hotel restaurant deck. They keep several binoculars on the deck for guests to use.

Mr. Nigel Velasquez took us on a birding hike just behind the hotel, an area which also hosts the famous Green Iguana Conservation project. He explained his unique approach to birding where he identifies birds based on their sound in what he calls birding by ear. We had a wonderful time birding in San Ignacio town, and we invite you to stop by for breakfast and birding next time you're in San Ignacio.
