On New Year's Day of 2025, a Yellow Wind Warning was in place across much of England! Join me as I take you around some areas local to me as I come across downed trees, waves crashing over the seawall & much more.

All these clips were taken in & around North Devon, specifically the Ilfracombe, Lee & Braunton areas.

Police were called to the downed tree early in the morning upon me coming across it, and shortly after the road was closed off. We reached the coast just after high tide but still caught some nice wave action. Peak gusts at the nearby Chivenor weather station measured around 52mph.

Later in the day, we came across a downed telephone line which was also reported & on the way home, some minor flooding, but nothing serious.

Overall, it was a nice start to the year and I'm excited to see what 2025 holds for us!


I primarily chase as a hobby, and to help out the public where I can (e.g. reporting trees, powerlines, floods & helping with roadside incidents), but I also observe and report for ESWD ( European Severe Weather Database ) which is operated by ESSL ( European Severe Storms Laboratory ).

Additionally, I'm an Admin and occasional chaser for the crew over at UK Weather Chase (   / ukweatherchase   ).
