The first thing we need to do when you start talking about the shooting pocket is make sure we are talking about the same thing. Different people call different positions different things.

For me, the shooting pocket is another name for triple threat position. The position we start our shot from down by our waist level.

Then we need to understand the balancing act between the IDEAL shooting pocket and the reality of shooting in a game.

An ideal shooting pocket has your shooting hand already on the middle of the ball and aligned with the target. But the reality is we can rarely get into exactly that position in games.

So your goal is to be good at getting the ball as close to the ideal shooting pocket as possible, in a variety of different ways - not to do it PERFECTLY every time.
