4K 60FPS Walk Around of Southern Railway PS-4 Pacific 1401 with Whistle Zoom In 8-12-2023

On Saturday August 12, while taking a trip to Washington DC, I visited the Smithsonian National Museum of American History to see the locomotive Southern Railway PS-4 Pacific 1401. This historic locomotive is dressed in a beautiful Virginian Green and Gold paint scheme and is the sole survivor of the Southern Railway's PS4 class of 4-6-2 Pacific locomotives. 1401 was cosmetically preserved and possibly stored operational, retaining its original number boards on the headlight and the bell at the top front. It also has its original whistle, a Southern Railway shop original PS-4 3 Chime Long Bell Whistle with a top mounted whistle lever and pull cord. Both the whistle and the bell were hand polished as part of the restoration, revealing a shiny brass color, with the bell also having its red color underneath. Another cool part of Southern 1401 is that the running gears and joints also have the number 1401 engraved in them. This is a 4K 60 FPS video of me walking around the historic locomotive while zooming in on the whistle, bell, headlight, and the drive train gears and joints that are engraved with 1401. Southern Railway 1401 is my second favorite locomotive after the Blue Comet G3 Pacifics, but its PS-4 Whistle is my favorite of any steam locomotive whistle.
