DIY Outdoor Cat Shelter

Help outdoor cats in your neighborhood stay warm this winter by building this simple Outdoor Cat Shelter.

Equipment List:
• 30-gallon plastic storage container
• 20-gallon plastic storage container
• Box Cutter
• Straw – it is very important to not use hay as hay can soak in moisture which can lead to mold growth and freezing.
• Permanent Marker
• Hairdryer – or another heat source to soften the plastic.
• Insulating Sheeting – this insulation comes in 4’x8’ sheets so make sure that you have something to cut the sheet with to get it in your vehicle. One sheet should make at least two shelters.
• Weatherproof tape
• Plastic flowerpot – Ideally 6-8 inches wide. Make sure to choose a flowerpot that does not taper too much at the bottom, because this will be turned into an entrance later.
