This is my video & audio tribute for the Country Bear Christmas Special at Disneyland. This was a really great seasonal overlay of the Country Bears in Critter Country. This attraction was historic as it was the first ever seasonal overlay of a major attraction at a Disney park. It premiered in November 1984 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It continued to play at Disneyland until 2001 when they made the mistake of removing the Country Bears entirely from Disneyland and replacing it with a low budget Winnie the Pooh ride. Thankfully the Country Bears still exist at Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland. But this overlay ended after 2005 in Walt Disney World due to budget cuts. Tokyo Disneyland still has a similar holiday overlay called Country Bear Jingle Bell Jamboree, which has played most years since 1988. This overlay was originally located in Bear Country as the only major attraction, but a few years later Bear Country became Critter Country when Splash Mountain opened. This show featured the Country Bears singing many classic Christmas songs, with a fantastic soundtrack composed by George Wilkins. Wilkins has made a lot of really great soundtracks for Disney parks including Listen to the Land (1982), Journey Into Imagination (1983), Horizons (1983), Space Mountain Magic Kingdom Queue/Exit (1984), Country Bear Vacation Hoedown (1986), Great Movie Ride (1989), Living With The Land (1993), Carousel of Progress (1993), Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin (1994), Le Pays Des Contes De Fees (1994), Pooh's Hunny Hunt (2000), & California Screamin (2001). This show does a great job keeping the personalities of the Country Bears while making a new presentation. I hope you enjoy it!
