My '83 F50 originally came with ford's twin traction beam front suspension with a Dana 44 gear, not a very desirable setup. I've been meaning to upgrade it to a straight axle Dana 60 and I finally found a fitting one. The axle is out of a 1992 F350 with the correct 3.55 gears and a limited slip. Of course I should've gone through the gears, bearing, and joints all before installing it in the truck, but I didn't. So, I went over most of that here but I still decided not to do the axle seals, which are at the center of the whole thing, and I discovered they're bad after reassembling everything. I'll have to take it all apart, at least I can inspect the differential and replace the worn clutches in the limited slip. That'll be in the next video along with some other work on the truck.
