Learning how to use a router can be a little daunting but with some practice, you can advance your skills to working freehand, putting those jigs to one side for now.

Using a woodworking router with good effect will be partly to do with the tool itself. Be careful with a cheap machine as they tend to have poor balance and frankly will not help you to work freehand.

Metabo is now branding the bright green tool manufacturer Hitachi. Hitachi is a good brand but I still would like to know what is happening with all those great Metabo models?
